A Dynamic Program
The startup scene in Israel is constantly evolving, and so is the New Kibbutz Program's offering. New positions are regularly added, making it worthwhile to frequently check the list of internship opportunities. The availability of internship spots depends, among other factors, on the applicants' flexibility and their available time frame. In general, most companies prefer candidates who are available for a longer period.

Who can apply?
Eligible to apply are students enrolled in relevant fields of study such as business, engineering, information technology, or design, who can demonstrate the required qualifications according to the job postings. Advanced proficiency in English is mandatory. Participants must be enrolled as students for the entire duration of the internship.
Additionally, applicants must belong to one of the following groups:
1. Enrolled students at German universities who are in at least their second semester:
- German citizens
- Individuals with equivalent status under § 8 BAföG
- Non-German students and graduates who are enrolled at a German university and are pursuing or aiming to complete their degree or doctorate there
2. German students abroad who wish to complete an internship in Israel and are not residing in Israel at the time of application.
When and for how long?
The application must be submitted via the AHK Israel online portal no later than five months before the start of the internship. As the New Kibbutz program and the startup scene in Israel are dynamic, we recommend submitting the application no earlier than six months before the start of the internship. The duration of an internship is at least two months and at most six months, depending on the requirements of the universities, the availability of the students, and the needs of Israeli companies. For mandatory internships, the organizational coordination with the university is the responsibility of the students.
How can I apply for an internship?
Students apply to the New Kibbutz program rather than to an individual internship position. In the application form, they can select up to three preferred internship positions from the list of available offers. The application must be submitted in English through the Online-Form.
The scholarship application is only submitted after receiving written confirmation of the internship and is handled independently through the DAAD application portal.

What happens after submitting the application?
- The application will be reviewed to ensure it meets the requirements of the New Kibbutz program and the funding criteria.
- The application will be forwarded to one of the companies listed as a preference (an application will not be sent to multiple companies simultaneously; it will be sent to the next preference only after a rejection).
- If a company is interested, contact will be established between the company and the applicant.
- The company’s contact person will then schedule a phone or video interview.
- If the application is successful, AHK Israel will be informed of the internship offer.
- After receiving written confirmation of the internship from the company, the student will independently apply for the DAAD scholarship.
- Once the scholarship is accepted, AHK Israel will apply for the visa for the participants.
