Elbit Systems and ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) have inaugurated a new production facility in northern Israel to manufacture underwater GRP (glass-reinforced polyester) components for submarines. The facility is part of their industrial cooperation and TKMS’s reciprocal procurement commitments in Israel, and is expected to initially employ dozens of workers.
The project strengthens Israel’s defense manufacturing base and enables Elbit Cyclone, an Elbit subsidiary, to expand its product portfolio, access new international markets, and develop local expertise in advanced underwater components, a field not previously produced in Israel.
Separately, Elbit announced $277 million in contracts to supply UT30 MK2 30-mm turrets and armaments over three years, and additional contracts worth $435 million for advanced defense systems to be delivered over six years.
