With the new 2026 work program, Germany and Israel are deepening their cooperation in the energy sector and setting new strategic priorities.

The German–Israeli energy partnership will be continued and substantively expanded with the 2026 work program. The program was signed during the inaugural visit of the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katherina Reiche, to Israel, together with the Israeli Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eliahu Cohen. A central future focus will be on energy security, in particular cybersecurity and the physical protection of critical energy infrastructure.

Since its establishment in 2022, the energy partnership has served as a high-level platform for exchange between policymakers, businesses, and the research communities of both countries. Its aim is to promote innovation in the energy sector and to respond jointly to current challenges. Achievements to date include, among other things, a bilateral research cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, an international cybersecurity exercise in the energy sector, and measures to strengthen renewable energy in Israel.

The new work program builds on these successes and sets additional priorities in order to better address future challenges in the areas of energy security, infrastructure resilience, the energy transition, and technological innovation.
