Bilateral Energy Cooperation: Supporting Global Energy Transitions

Germany maintains bilateral climate and energy partnerships and energy dialogues with over 30 countries worldwide. With these countries, Germany directly collaborates on the implementation of their energy transitions. The overarching goal of these bilateral energy cooperations is to achieve a climate-friendly, secure, and affordable energy supply.

The focus areas are the expansion of renewable energies, their integration into energy systems, the increase in energy efficiency, the modernization of energy infrastructure, and the development of legal and technical frameworks for the electricity and energy markets.

The countries face different challenges in implementing their energy transitions. Therefore, dena supports the BMWK in the tailored design and practical implementation of these bilateral energy cooperations. Identifying additional suitable countries for new energy partnerships, energy dialogues, or project-based energy cooperations is also part of dena's mandate.

Since November 2023, the AHK Israel has provided an EP Secretariat on behalf of dena. This has established a local coordination office to support dena in the technical and administrative implementation of individual projects.
