For more than six decades, Lower Saxony and Israel have been closely connected through scientific collaboration. In September, this unique partnership was celebrated at Herrenhausen Palace in Hanover – an occasion to honor the achievements of joint research projects and the 100th anniversary of two leading Israeli universities.
The cooperation, which began in 1963, has developed into a strong and enduring network. Today, numerous interdisciplinary projects are supported under the “Research Cooperation Lower Saxony–Israel” program – ranging from natural and material sciences to biotechnology and social research.
At the anniversary event, representatives from science, politics, and business emphasized the significance of this collaboration as a model of successful research diplomacy. Joint publications, spin-offs, and long-term partnerships illustrate how scientific exchange fosters sustainable innovation – with tangible relevance for the economic and technological development of both countries.
