Israel introduced a new electronic visa process, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). This system allows nationals of certain countries to visit Israel without a traditional visa by applying for an ETA online prior to travel.

Key points about the ETA for Israel:

1. Application Process: Travelers must apply for an ETA online before traveling to Israel and provide the required information. The application should be submitted at least 72 hours before departure.

2. Fees: A fee is required for the ETA application.

3. Validity: The ETA for Israel is generally valid for up to two years from approval and allows multiple entries as long as the passport remains valid. Travelers do not need to submit a new application within this period unless their passport or ETA expires.

4. Eligible Travelers: Travelers from certain countries who previously did not need a visa or could obtain one on arrival are now required to apply for the ETA in advance. A list of eligible countries is available on the official Israeli government website.

5. Border Checks: Even with an approved ETA, travelers must undergo inspection upon arrival in Israel and may face additional questioning or review at the discretion of border officials.

The ETA system simplifies entry to Israel, reduces paperwork, and expedites the application process for tourists and business travelers.
