Innovation Cooperation

As part of the location strategy "Hamburg 2040", the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with Hamburg partners, is working to promote Hamburg's international networking with innovation centers. The goal is to identify international trends and innovations more quickly and make them usable for the Hamburg economy. Based on the results of the 2020 Trend City Study and recommendations from the board, Israel, known worldwide as an innovation and start-up center, has been identified as a relevant partner country for Hamburg.

In this context, the AHK Israel, together with the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Hamburg Invest, has signed a cooperation agreement to connect Israeli start-ups and scale-ups - as defined by Hamburg Invest - with Hamburg companies, attract potential settlement candidates from Israel to Hamburg, support Hamburg companies entering the Israeli market, and make the Hamburg location better known in Israel. The Hamburg partners will support these agreed services through concrete service products such as the Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg or the Future Hamburg Award from Hamburg Invest. The aim is to expand the bilateral business relationships between the economic locations of Israel and Hamburg through technology scouting and market development.

The AHK Israel works closely with the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Hamburg Invest to promote Hamburg as an attractive economic location in global competition and offer Israeli companies professional advice and cross-industry information on the Hamburg market. We offer support in various technology fields such as fintech, cybersecurity, maritime economy, mobility, logistics and supply chains, aviation and space, as well as digital health/life science, sustainability, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources.

Central components of the cooperation include, among others, scouting for Israeli technology partners for companies and institutions from the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce network, the organization of networking events, webinars, and roadshows of Israeli start-ups to Hamburg, as well as the care and maintenance of existing contacts and projects. Furthermore, we are a central contact point for Hamburg companies that are looking for potential business and cooperation partners in Israel. We support in the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of business trips, meetings, and conferences and provide professional advice on tax and legal issues.
