Nine Israeli startups have secured €130 million ($142 million) in funding from the EU’s Horizon Accelerator program, which awarded €411 million to 68 companies from 17 countries. Israel ranked third in grant recipients, following Germany and France, each with 13 companies.

The EIC Accelerator provides up to €2.5 million in grants and up to €15 million in equity investments, along with mentoring and business development support to help startups grow and enter global markets. Among the Israeli recipients is MediWound, which will use the funding to advance its innovative wound therapies, including EscharEx for diabetic foot ulcers. Other recipients include JaxBio Technologies, which is developing a blood test for early lung cancer detection, and Nurami Medical, which is working on soft tissue repair technology.

Additional Israeli companies awarded include LightSolver, Quantum Transistors Technology, and SpacePharma, highlighting the competitive edge of Israeli startups. Since 2021, 32 Israeli companies have received support through the Horizon Europe program, placing Israel among the top five participating countries.
